PRP and viscosupplementation in the locomotor system
PRP is an abbreviation for Platelet Rich Plasma and stands for blood rich in thrombocytes and growth factors. It is widely used to treat injuries or inflammations of joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles, and bone fractures. Blood contains specific growth factors that promote the formation, migration, proliferation, and differentiation of immune cells, cells of the locomotory system, and others. PRP is the most natural and safest way to treat inflammation and injury and acts on all cells of the locomotory system, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilag,e and bone. They reduce inflammation and edema, stimulate and improve circulation and healing, and reduce or eliminate pain. During this Module, you will go through PRP indications, including rotator cuff syndrome, tennis and golfer's elbow, arthritis and fasciitis, and Achilles tendon injuries.
Viscosupplementation is a therapeutic procedure of injecting hyaluronic acid into the joints, most often the knee and hip. Hyaluronic acid is in the form of a gel and acts as a lubricant that reduces friction within the joint itself and thus reduces pain in patients.
PRP therapy is the most effective method of treating the following conditions:
- Pain in the locomotory system
- Tennis & Golfer's Elbow
- Frozen shoulder
- Tendon rupture
- Pain after shoulder dislocation
- Sports injuries
- Post-surgery treatment
- Joint Inflammations- arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Articular cartilage damage
- Menisc rupture
- Chronic synovitis
- Degenerative changes
- Sprains of muscles and ligaments
- Tendon injury
- Plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendon
- Tendinitis
- Patellar tendonitis (jumper's knee)
- Acute and chronic muscle pain
Each of our modules consists of a THEORETICAL and HANDS-ON PRACTICAL part, where after education, in the presence of a mentor, you inject the patient yourself. Our modules are designed so that you can ask and go through all the questions and concerns with the mentor during the time of training. The mentors are exclusively plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery specialists
The theoretical part of the training:
- What is PRP and viscosupplementation
- Science of growth factors present in platelets and their functions
- Division of PRP
- Different brands of PRP kits
- Physiology and pharmacology of PRP
- Mechanism of action of PRP and viscosupplementation and their differences
- Different components of PRP serum
- How and why to activate PRP
- Injection techniques
- Indications and contraindications
- Prevention, early recognition and management of complications
- Types of anesthesia, preparation and application of a local anaesthetic
- Required consumables
- Patient Forms and Consents
- Writing findings
- Instructions for patients after treatment
Practical part of the training (hands-on):
- Proper consultation, patient examination and patient assessment
- Patient anatomy
- Proper photo documentation
- The practical part of the work (injection) on the patient himself
ADVANTAGES:
- Real hands-on on models (patients)
- Each candidate receives an ADVANCED MODULE script as a gift
- The candidate receives points from the Croatian Medical Chamber
- The candidate receives a Certificate of Completed Education in accordance with the Ordinance on Norms and Standards for Performing Health Care Activities
- The candidate receives all the necessary documentation for the work (Questionnaire, Consent for Patients, example of Findings) as a gift
- All materials are included in the price
- Work in small groups
The candidate can, if there is space, apply for both the BASIC and ADVANCED modules on the same day.
